How to build a self-belief evidence bank

February 10, 2019February 7, 20191 Comment

When I talk about building self-belief, I often talk about building an ‘evidence bank’ and I realised recently that having a blog post dedicated to this (how to build one, when to use it etc.) could be super helpful. The idea of an evidence bank is to hold onto the positive things people say to … Continue reading How to build a self-belief evidence bank

It’s OK to go slow

January 20, 2019January 17, 20194 Comments

There are so many things in life that can feel like a race. I wonder if I’m feeling it extra hard because a) I’m over 30 (and being over 30 seems to carry a weight of expectation) and b) I’m in the online business world (and competition/comparison can feel pretty damn real here). Or perhaps … Continue reading It’s OK to go slow

What I learnt in 2018

December 30, 2018December 29, 20182 Comments

This year has been pretty full on for me and, in my opinion, for the rest of the world. There have been some incredible highs and a few lows. For my last blog of the year, I thought I would take a look back and note some of the things I’ve learnt personally. Because, regardless … Continue reading What I learnt in 2018

How self-belief impacts productivity

December 12, 2018December 11, 20182 Comments

Being unsure of ourselves can have a lot of different side-effects. One that shows up for me is procrastination. I get so scared of taking action that I freeze, retreat into myself and procrastinate like my life depends on it. My procrastination weapon of choice is my phone, particularly Instagram and Twitter. Whenever I feel … Continue reading How self-belief impacts productivity

What ‘showing up’ really means

December 2, 2018December 1, 20182 Comments

If you’re in the online business world, whether you run your own business or you have dreams of being your own boss one day, you have probably heard the term ‘showing up’ before. It’s a term I hear a lot in podcasts, live videos, Instagram posts and it can feel a little intangible… like, what … Continue reading What ‘showing up’ really means

How to cope with impostor syndrome

November 4, 2018November 4, 20184 Comments

Have you ever felt like you’ve gotten where you are because of some crazy fluke? Like you’re totally winging it and waiting for the day others find you out? You’re not alone. This, dear reader, is impostor syndrome and apparently around 70% of us have experienced it. So either a lot of us are impostors, … Continue reading How to cope with impostor syndrome

Finding space and navigating self-doubt

October 24, 2018October 22, 20182 Comments

Something I’ve come to realise recently is how important taking time and space for yourself is when it comes to navigating with self-doubt. Ever since recovering from anorexia and building my self-worth, I’ll admit that I haven’t *really* struggled with self-doubt. Especially when it came to blogging and my job. This could be because I’ve … Continue reading Finding space and navigating self-doubt

How to get out of a negative thought spiral

October 14, 2018October 12, 20182 Comments

We’ve all been there right? Something happens that triggers a negative thought, your inner critic takes that thought and runs with it, until you’re spiralling and paralysed by fear. This happened to me pretty recently but I was able to claw my way out relatively quickly. So I thought today I would share the process … Continue reading How to get out of a negative thought spiral

Managing time when you have a side-hustle

October 3, 2018October 2, 20188 Comments

I listened to Sara Tasker and Jen Carrington talking about building a business alongside a day job in their podcast ‘Letters from a Hopeful Creative’ today and could relate to a lot of what they discussed. Managing time when you’re trying to blog/start a business alongside another job is bloody difficult. In the podcast they … Continue reading Managing time when you have a side-hustle

The future of mental health (what I would love to see)

September 30, 2018September 29, 2018Leave a comment

When I was at uni, thinking about my future career, I never thought the issues I’d had with my mental health would have anything to do with it. I thought I would be writing about music and fashion, going to gigs and fashion shows, meeting people in the industry and living my #bestlife. I’m thankful … Continue reading The future of mental health (what I would love to see)

Sometimes self-care is about burning fancy candles. Sometimes it’s about getting showered and back into your PJs for a day in bed 😴 What it’s always about though, is YOU. We all have different needs and we all have different circumstances. Some people have small self-care obstacles to hop over, others have huge-ass mountains to climb 🏔 This is why I wanted to offer self-care support as a coach, because I believe it’s a subject that needs considered discussion on an individual level ❤️ online articles about self-care can’t know your personal circumstance and often try to give ‘one-size-fits-all’ advice. This is not what I want to do. I want to listen to your story and help you make the changes you need to feel better about self-care 💭 If this is something you’re interested in, pop me a DM or take a look at my coaching link in my bio for more information about my qualifications and experience 😘 #worthyhumansunite
My sister bought me this beautiful book, ‘New Horizons’ by @shirinsahbaart for Christmas and as soon as I read the first line of the description, I knew I’d love it: “Artist and globetrotter Shirin Sahba celebrates the diversity of people, places, and traditions, and revels in the joy of the journey itself.” 🙌 each page has one of her paintings (inspired by classical Persian miniatures) and a short description. Loved it and wanted to share ❤️ thank you @saralindsey for such a thoughtful gift 😘 who in the art world is inspiring you right now?
This cosy cafe is where I tucked myself away on Saturday with a book and mocha for a little quiet time ☕️ I’ve started making Saturdays ‘social media free’ to gain a little headspace and honestly, it’s been the best thing for my creativity. If you’re looking to set firmer boundaries around your screen/social media time, here are some tips: . 📱 Start with awareness, check your screen time and see what apps take the most of your time (iPhone shows this info in settings, or you can use the moment app). 📱 Make certain times of the day/week social media free (for example I make sure I don’t look at social media first thing in the morning or, now, on Saturdays). 📱 Make certain places in your home social media free (i.e. the bedroom). . Sit with the white space this creates, use it to read or be creative. Enjoy the peace ❤️ what social media boundaries do you have in place, if any? (And zero judgement here if you don’t have any, I think we’re all different and have different needs, social media can be an absolute life line for some)
Something that's really helped me be consistent in my self-care practice is understanding what my motivators are. Knowing why the small acts of kindness I show myself matter is an absolute game-changer ✨ This week on the blog I'm sharing a journaling exercise to help you find your self-care motivators (link in bio). If you already know what yours are, let me know in the comments! 💭
Happy Valentine’s day everyone! When it comes to love, I think this illustration Dan did of me and him says it all. Let it be your guiding light 💡 follow your passion and amazing things will happen ❤️ what’s lighting you up right now?
Feeling worthy is like feeling safe. It’s standing in a sun spot and soaking in a feeling of quiet contentment. It’s that steady voice in the back of your mind saying, “you’ll be ok”. Sometimes it makes itself known to you, other times it steps back into the shadows and allows your self-doubt to take the spotlight. But the thing is, it’s always there ✨ what I aim to do through my self-worth discovery coaching work is help people recognise that it’s always there and learn how to call on it more frequently. If this sounds like something you could do with support on, send me a DM ❤️ what does self-worth feel like to you? #worthyhumansunite
