There are some subtle shifts happening around here - you may have noticed updated website copy and social media bios (or you might not!), but I wanted to give some space to the changes I’m making and why.
After trying to launch a coaching business and subsequently burning out in 2020, I took a break and realised I wanted to focus on education - experimenting with courses, workshops and e-books which I’ve done to varying success.
I also tapped back into my creative side, starting botanical illustration, playing with mood boards and art journaling. I feel like this, more than anything else, has led to an ah-ha moment. I realised the importance of creativity for me and that certain tools can be really impactful when it comes to building self-worth and confidence.
Creativity has always been in the background of my work, but this year has made me realise that I want to pull it into the foreground. I want to utilise more creative approaches and I want to specifically support creatives (and those with creative dreams). So… that is the first subtle shift taking place.
The next shift will be in my job title. In 2020 I dropped my title of self-worth coach to become a self-worth educator, as I decided to stop coaching. And now? I’ve moved towards ‘confidence mentor’. Why? Honestly… because I think it’s clearer. Self-worth will remain at the core because I don’t believe you can build confidence without it.
And that’s it. It doesn’t feel like a re-brand or a big pivot. Instead it feels like gently shifting into a more comfortable position.
The changes will come slowly and steadily in 2022. Remember - it’s OK not to hit the ground running in January, we’re still in mid-winter.
I would however invite you to think about this idea of subtle shifts for yourself. Here are some journaling prompts to help:
- What have you learnt about yourself in 2021?
- What brought you the most joy and fulfillment?
- What subtle shifts can you make to bring this into the foreground?
This is an adapted version of a newsletter I sent out at the end of last year, if you’d like to subscribe I would love you to join the Growth Rings community. Until next time, take care.
