Hello everyone and happy New Year! Welcome to the brand new Blue Jay of Happiness site - what do you think? I’m really happy with it. The colours, the navigation - all of it just flows better and is more functional. While blogging is a key part of my work, so is coaching and now podcasting and I feel this new site communicates this well.
I want to say a huge thank you to Elle Narbrook for creating it for me and putting up with my lack of technical knowledge! While Elle doesn’t offer design services, she is planning to create site auditing services and I would 100% recommend this - she’s brilliant at giving you the tools you need to manage your site and make it the best it can possibly be.
So, with the new site now done and the New Year begun…
What’s coming up for 2020?
When I sat down to reflect on 2019, I realised that I had been pretty hard on myself. I set a goal at the start of 2019, but as always, things changed / didn’t go to plan and I didn’t achieve that lofty goal. Instead I realised that the word I set for the year, ‘freedom’ had many different meanings and I found a different version than originally intended.
So this year I don’t want to pin myself down with rigid goals. I do have a word guiding me for the year and I have hopes, rather than goals.
My word for the year is ‘rise’. I feel like last year I did a lot of groundwork and I’m hoping this year will see that work pay off. I was to rise to my full potential. I want to rise above things that aren’t important to me (but currently cause me stress).
I want to rise into view.
My hopes for the year mainly revolve around Blue Jay of Happiness and they include increasing the number of coaching clients I work with and increasing my income.
I have ideas for how I can do this, including completing two courses (one on marketing, one of nuero linguistic programming), re-thinking my coaching packages and exploring other income avenues like digital products and workshops.
I do also have hopes for more travel and more live music. Looking back at the highlights of the last decade, I noticed music and travel coming up again and again. Two things that have fallen a little off my radar.
Like every year I want to prioritise reading and move my body a little more - and while I have set myself a Good Reads challenge (15 books in 2020) I haven’t set any goals or challenges for my body. I know I’ll continue to use my intuition and listen to what my body craves. Other than that… I’m pretty happy leaving any goal or hope-setting there.
And that’s where I’m at in this moment, looking ahead to 2020. Feeling excited and ready, but most importantly fully aware that life doesn’t always follow your plan.
Things will change, things won’t go to plan - and that’s OK. I want to go into this year with a kind and flexible approach and I hope you can join me.
