Monthly mindscape – storm

October 27, 2019October 25, 20192 Comments

Well, October just flew by didn’t it? I probably feel that way because I had a lovely break at the start of this month, so I had to squish some work into the remaining weeks. It’s been a month of connection, that’s for sure. Lots of meetings, dinners and talking which has been pretty wonderful.  … Continue reading Monthly mindscape – storm

Monthly mindscape – clean

July 28, 2019July 26, 2019Leave a comment

How is your summer going so far? Mine started off in a flurry of activity but is slowly calming down, which is nice. We’re at the end of July which means it’s time for another piece of flash fiction. Every month I find an image on Instagram that inspires me and flex my creative writing … Continue reading Monthly mindscape – clean

Monthly mindscape – in bloom

August 5, 2018August 3, 20182 Comments

Every month I look through some of my favourite Instagram accounts to find a picture that will spark an idea for a short story. Some months are easier than others, this month it took quite some time, but when I saw the right picture, it stopped me in my tracks. The last year or so … Continue reading Monthly mindscape – in bloom

Responding to terms of endearment at work

April 11, 2018August 3, 2019Leave a comment

In my working life I’ve had three male managers that have made me feel uncomfortable. The first one lingered after conversations too long, looked a little too much and called me 'sweetheart'. The second was aggressive, loud and called everyone in the office “fucking idiots” once. The third was a lovely well-meaning man who loved … Continue reading Responding to terms of endearment at work

In defence of online activism

March 28, 2018March 26, 20182 Comments

Would you call yourself an activist? If you asked me that question, I think I would say I’m dipping my toe in the water, discovering my passions and getting more vocal about them - especially online. This is what I want to talk about today - online activism. Some people have a bit of a … Continue reading In defence of online activism

How we use language to undermine ourselves

October 1, 2017September 30, 20172 Comments

I remember a while ago reading about using the word ‘just’ in work emails, and that it can make us come across as less competent. I thought about the emails I sent at work and realised... I always use ‘just’. Here are some phrases that come up a lot in my sent mail folder: “Just … Continue reading How we use language to undermine ourselves

What feminism means to me

What feminism means to me

April 19, 2017August 12, 20171 Comment

Feminism. Feminist. What do you think of when you hear those words? Everyone has their own interpretation, so I wanted to chat about what it means to me. Before we get into that though, I want to touch on the fact that feminism has gained a lot of attention recently in the media and has … Continue reading What feminism means to me

The Radical Monarchs

January 25, 2017February 18, 2017Leave a comment

I used to be in the Rainbows, the Brownies and very briefly the Girl Guides. From what I remember, I enjoyed it. It was a great way to gain social skills and learn more about the world. I wasn't particularly outdoorsy (I'm still not) so I didn't love that aspect, but it was a nice … Continue reading The Radical Monarchs

Instagram

This is your annual reminder to take a breath 🙏 stop looking at what everyone else is doing, stop worrying about not having enough ‘exciting things’ to shout about as 2019 draws to a close and just breathe. It’s so easy to get caught up in everyone else’s announcements and launches it can be hard not to compare but try to remember we’re all growing at different rates and that’s OK 🌱
Instagram is somewhere I like to express myself creatively, somewhere I can play with visuals and come up with just the right words to go with them. This week on Seedling I'm talking about creativity, how it reduces stress and why it can be an important part of our self-care routine 💕 Search for 'Seedling' wherever you get your podcasts and you'll find the link for the show-notes in my bio. What's your favourite way to express yourself creatively? 🌱 #SeedlingPodcast
At the start of this year I challenged myself to read 10 books by the end of the year (not a lofty goal, but quite a stretch for me) and I’ve now read 12 (and another one nearly finished) 🎉 over the last month or so though, my reading has slowed and I’m looking forward for more time over the coming weeks to get reading again because I find it offers so much, including... . 📚 a calming dose of escapism 📚 a burst of creative inspiration 📚 a big old dollop of comfort . As a writer it’s particularly important for me to read so I think it’s time I prioritised it again 💪 do you know how many books you’ve read this year?
This week on the blog I'm sharing 5 simple things I do each week that make life run just that little bit easier. Spoiler - they involve planning and routines, so if that's not your jam, you might want to give this one a miss 😅 Do you have any systems/routines in place that make your life easier? Link to blog in bio ❤️
I think the reason I was so drawn to this print by @rosieoneilluk was because it sounds so similar to ‘keep going’ and now, every time I need to give myself a lil’ pep talk, I tell myself to ‘keep growing’ 💪 🌱 because that’s how we learn, how we develop and how we take steps forward. When we ‘keep growing’ we collect evidence that we can do this and we start to believe in ourselves and that’s the energy I want more of us to bring to 2020 💫 if that’s something you’re looking for support with next year, I’m taking on coaching clients to start in January so pop me a DM if you think I could be the right person to help ❤️ do you have a mantra or phrase you use when you need a pep talk?
For many of us, liking and accepting who we are is difficult. I've certainly been on one hell of a journey with it all. This week on the podcast I'm talking about the radical act of liking ourselves and how we can develop self-acceptance 💕 I share some of my journey and some tips that may help you learn to like yourself a little more ✨ I'd love to hear your thoughts on this episode, is self-acceptance something you struggle with? #seedlingpodcast 🌱
